Secretary Chopra Announces Release of Second "Productivity Investment Fund" RFI
~ Aims to Increase Efficiency of Government ~
RICHMOND - Secretary Chopra today announced the release of a second Request for Information (“RFI”) calling on state agencies, private sector firms, academic leaders, and citizens to bring forward proposals that could be eligible for the second round of grants from the Productivity Investment Fund. Recipients of the funding will be limited to state agencies, but public-private partnerships are encouraged.
“This fund highlights the General Assembly and Governor’s shared commitment to find ways to reduce costs while improving services to our citizens,” said Secretary Chopra. “We're excited about the potential our first round recipients have shown and are looking forward to see what applications we receive this time around.”
The $3 million fund will provide seed money to state agencies to lower operating costs, reduce constituent service transaction times, and advance key performance goals as published on the Virginia Performs website (www.VAperforms.virginia.gov). Funded projects from the first round of responses include decreasing costs by digitizing check transportation and implementing a database to manage employee allocation.
For information on Virginia’s requirements, and a guide for filing a response, please review the fund information available at www.innovations.vi.virginia.gov. Interested parties are required to submit responses by November 9th, 2007.
Decisions on funding will be made by a three person panel consisting of the Secretaries of Finance, Administration, and Technology.
